We Reap What We Sow

I received this in my email, and I like the message so I'm passing it on. It's so very true. We have taken God out of everything and then we wonder why "the world is going to hell."

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday
Morning Commentary, Sunday, 12/18/05.

Herewith at this happy time of year, a few confessions from my beating
heart:

I have no freaking clue who Nick and Jessica are. I see them on the cover of People and Us constantly when I am buying my dog biscuits and kitty litter. I often ask the checkers at the grocery stores. They never know who Nick and Jessica are either. Who are they? Will it change my life if I know who they are and why they have broken up? Why are they so important?

I don't know who Lindsay Lohan is either, and I do not care at all about Tom Cruise's wife.

Am I going to be called before a Senate committee and asked if I am a
subversive? Maybe, but I just have no clue who Nick and Jessica are.

If this is what it means to be no longer young. It's not so bad.

Next confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I
don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think
Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution, and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we
should worship Nick and Jessica and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him?

I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too.

But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How God could let something like this Happen?" (regarding Katrina).

Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"

In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they
misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out.

I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the
world's going to hell.

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through
cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

Success is never final, failure is never fatal, it's the COURAGE that counts!

Just a weeee bit!!

I got this from my dad via email...you will crack up.

"An extraordinarily handsome man decided he had the
responsibility to marry the perfect woman so
they could produce beautiful children beyond compare

With that as his mission he began searching for the perfect woman.

Shortly there after he met a farmer who had three stunning,
gorgeous daughters that positively took his breath away.
So he explained his mission to the farmer,
asking for permission to marry one of them.

The farmer simply replied, "They're lookin' to get married,
so you came to the right place. Look 'em over and pick the one you want."

The man dated the first daughter.
The next day the farmer asked for the man's opinion.

"Well," said the man, "she's just a weeeeee bit,
not that you can hardly notice...pigeon-toed."

The farmer nodded and suggested the man date one
of the other girls;so the man went out with the second daughter.

The next day, the farmer again asked how things went.

"Well,"the man replied, "she's just a weeeee bit,
not that you can hardly tell...cross-eyed."

The farmer nodded and suggested he date the third girl
to see if things might be better. So he did.

The next morning the man rushed in exclaiming,

"She's perfect, just perfect. She's the one I want to marry."

So they were wed right away.Months later the baby was born.
When the man visited the nursery he was horrified: the baby was
the ugliest, most pathetic human you can imagine. He
rushed to his father-in-law asking how such a thing
could happen considering the beauty of the parents.

"Well," explained the farmer,
"She was just a weeeee bit, not that you could hardly tell...
pregnant when you met her."

DEAR GOD....

Make Me Over

i've been silent instead of speaking up
gave my advice instead of giving love
i have been unfair, faithless, and unkind
i have shut my eyes just so i would stay blind
it's not what i meant to do
cause i wanna honor you

chorus
make me over, make me new
make me a mirror, a reflection of you
take me all apart
take me to your heart and pull me closer
oh, jesus, make me over

take away the pride that whispers in the dark
take the stone our of the middle of my heart
hidden underneath my insecurities
is the servant that you've destined me to be
but day after precious day
i get in my own way

make me over, make me new
make me a mirror, a reflection of you
take me apart
take me to your heart and pull me closer
sweet savior, make me over

i am only made of your imagining
i'm dust and clay on the wind
wash me in the river of your sacrifice
until i'm changed, purified
take me all apart
take me to your heart and pull me closer
my jesus, make me over
make me over.

-Natalie Grant on the CD Awaken

I need your help Jesus in making me over. I need to be washed in the river of your sacrifice until I'm cleansed, purified, and changed. I know that if I trust in you, that you will change my heart and my desires, and I desire to be yours. I want to be more like you, a reflection, a mirrored image. I want people to look at me and see the fire I have for you in my eyes, words, and actions. I want them to feel your presence with every word, hug, handshake and any other contact I may have with others. I want them to know how beautiful your love is, and how amazing it is to be loved unconditionally, and to be forgiven when you fail, or you fall. For them to know that life isn't about pleasing other people but about giving everything to you, worries, doubts, fears. Trusting in you that you will deliver them from their troubles so long as they give it ALL up to you. Make me over. I LOVE YOU JESUS.

All love fades with time...

Okay...so I know the title of this post makes no sense...but it does. It has nothing to do with the content of this post, but oh well... I'm sorry I haven't been posting much, I've been super busy, with school, work, and Brooke. I just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about my avid readers, even though no one comments anymore. START LEAVING COMMENTS. I hope everything is good in everyone else's neighborhood. It sure is in mine as I'm now on Spring Break...woohooo...Anyway, have a good one...

Age Gauge

Now this is fun...and seeing that I'm not very old I've been through a lot in my lifetime. I noticed with a lot of these that I can tell you where I was, what I was doing, and in a few cases what I was wearing at the time of some of these occurances. For instance when 9-11 happened I was in first period. I was wearing a blue 3/4 sleeve button up shirt, with some khaki capris, and my blue glasses. I had walked by one of the classrooms only to find our asst. principal watching the television. I asked him what was going on, and it was apparent that it was not good. He let me know about the situation. Then the bell rang, and we all navigated to our second period classes like a herd of cattle. Once arriving and looking up at the television screen, the second plane flew right into the second World Trade Tower. That was devastating, this is about the time that it sunk in that the Pentagon had indeed been hit on the Army side where my cousin's office was. He had just left the building when the plane hit, so he went back in to try to offer assistance. I was terrified. They called some meeting for the PowderPuff and I did not go, but went to my mom's office and cried. Why America?, I wondered. What have we done but give aid to so many countries and allow there people here to work, go to school, and to provide a better life for them and their families, and they turn around and stab us in the back. I know that Lady Liberty shed a few tears that fateful day in September. We as a nation were in shock. We did nothing for the rest of the day but talk about the events that had just occured. Many people made a committment to our country that day. They vowed to protect and uphold our freedom. They call themselves Soldiers, I call them heros, idols, risk takers knowing the risks. My cousin who worked for an insurance adjuster place at the time was ordered to go up there for months and work there. What he found was devastating. Things were left, like lives had just stopped and never continued in those buildings. Computers were dusty, breifcases were found. Business was left unconducted for a very long time. Lives were changed. Our country, world, and nation were changed. We as a people were changed.
